{DIY Nail Art #2} Star-Shaped Nail Art!

Welcome to my super-impulsive impromtu DIY nail art series! So, I can go weeks neglecting my nails to the point where I hide them in my pockets when in public, then there are times when i show them love and actually take the time to let polish dry and even add a lil' jazz to them in design- like this DIY. I was at the office-supply store and wandered into the teacher/school aisle and I saw these star stickers and my immediate thought was: "those stickers look like they fit on my nails, I'm going to make star shaped nail art." See? Impulsive. Impromtu. Yet, Fun. I mean, I like stars & If you like stars you might like to try this super easy Nail Art DIY. :)

What you will need:
  1. 2 nail polishes
  2. small star stickers
  3. top coat.
  4. patience (I borrowed this one from a friend- I run low)

Gold Polish: Nail laquer Aldo Gold Dust
Pink Polish: Rimmel Lasting Pro Electric Pink
Star Stickers: usually in teachers/school aisle next to the "great job!" stickers.

 BOOM. Sha-Ka-La-Ka.
And you are done in 5 easy steps :) I lined up the star stickers in different positions to play with abstract shapes too... but some of my nails had the entire star shape on it... totally up to you and your creative impulsives-- playing with constrasting color is another option you can cater to your preferences. Stay tuned for more impulsive nail art.
have any special plans for the weekend?

Photoshoot: Addicted to Red Shoes

My friend Chelcie S. Porter, who is getting her traveling on via New Orleans, Mississippi, Alaska & beyond made a stop in Chicago for her birthday back in February & I made sure to get on her calendar the week she was visiting...

We had agreed to shoot some of my jewelry-- but guess what? I forgot the bag of Mano y Metal pieces at my home and so arrived with only what I had on to the shoot.... This kind of stuff happens to me all the time-- I forget everything-- working on it--working on it! :)
Those are my beloved t-strap red shoes that I L_O_V_E!!!! I've had them for a few years now, and I can't go a season without throwing them on. Red works, year round in my world. {end beloved shoe rant}
The photo-shoot took place at Tease Salon located in Pilsen that has an amazing interior layout & decor--- and we got the room with a pink couch! What??! Yes, I might as well admit it, I was pretty excited to see a pink couch :)

Chelcie is coming to visit Chicago again in April, so if you need any shots/product shots, she's booking now! :) Keep your friends close and your creative friends even closer :) (c) <3

Sunday FUNday! {No. 14} DIY: Heart Cut-out Shirt!

It has been a long time since I posted a Sunday FUNday post, but I'm gettin' back in the groove and wanted to share a fun DIY I found on pinterest... I modified the DIY according to my terms because, well, I have never been good at following directions... nor reading instructions... so I looked at the picture and made up my own way of getting that heart cut-out. Although, the original pin has a great way to achieve the heart-shape with chalk if you are working on a dark-colored shirt! :) Alright, let's get started with the heart-fun.

 Confessions of a DIYer:
  1. So, I totally looked through all my shirts and didn't really find a shirt i wanted to cut-up... so I went to the hubs section of the closet and totally SNATCHED one of his (many) white t-shirts from his drawer (while he was at soccer practice with the kid) and happily sacrificed it for the this DIY-- I mean he has so many white shirts...
  2. I planned on NOT confessing and you know, just hiding the shirt so he wouldn't know I cut-up one of his t-shirts..... BUT I FORGOT and he got home and I was sitting editing this post when I heard... "what the hell? Is this my shirt!?" and I ran over to the bedroom and he was holding his beloved t-shirt looking at the heart shape now adorning it. whoops! My sneaky skills failed me and I forgot to hide it. I told him I'll buy him another one :::giggles::: I mean whatever.
You can totally modify the shape of the heart to any size you prefer... and also place it anywhere else... I might play with this idea more... maybe even on one of my own shirts next time ;p

This was brought to you by Sunday FUNday
I hope you enjoyed this DIY! :)
See you next Sunday!

Note to Self.

note(s) to self:
  • drink more water.
  • take more walks.
  • stop reading emails and etsy convos via my iphone and responding to them only in my mind and not actually... (whoops)
  • make peace (aka stop ignoring) with the dirty dishes in the sink (blah).
  • coca-cola is chemicals and I should stop loving to drink it despite my addiction to carbonation.
  • write more.
  • give myself quiet time.
  • curb the netflix dependency.
  • walk away from the computer for a few hours, seriously (and yes, iphone counts as "computer")
  • stop being mean to people who annoy me.
  • exercise is not a chore, it is good for me.
  • TRY to finish one project before I start another.
  • less coffee, more green tea.
  • fast food is not my friend, it is my enemy.
  • stop sweating the small stuff.
  • taking the time to get organized now, will save me time later.
  • take deep breaths.
  • relax.
  • laugh loud.
  • pack a punch, I mean pack a lunch, no, I mean pack a punch.
gotta start somewhere, mission: "note to self" starts today. here's to hoping anyway :)
I'll let you know if these really get noted or not. :)

Etsy Wanderings Led me to You::: Color Splash!

 the best way to eliminate the Monday blues... is to add other colors to your day! :)
Today I am feeling vibrant color combos...
brought to you by my etsy wanderings...
My mom cooked with a lot of wine... hmmm... :) {source}

these . I . covet. {source}
am I the only one excited to see this? soooooo pretty! {source}

If I wasn't afraid of the sewing machine, I'd collect the brightest of hues in thread... {source}

I like smile-igitors. :) {source}

I am a fan of industrial looks and innovative creations-- aka this bookcase. {source}
My wardobe would be complete if I added these puffy dresses to it :)  {Source}

How do you usually kick the Monday blues?

Chalk it up to the SunShine!

60 degrees, 70 degrees are you kidding me? This weather is amazing... too amazing, I mean Chicago seemed to skip right over winter entirely, it snowed only about 5 times over here... pretty (super) mild winter for someone who is used to wrapping herself like a mummy to face the Chicago cold... but I'd be lying if I said I did not enjoy some sunshine and warm breeze in my life! Finally, we won't be hostage to the house and will be able to go outside and play! :) Which is just what we did--- the sidewalk was ours for the taking and we got to work on doodling all over the cement... check it out! :)
        The End!

 So are you as excited as me to welcome summa-time?! :)

Thanks for stoppin' by today!
