Pitchfork Music Festival 2012!

Mano y Metal got accepted to be a vendor at this year's Pitchfork Music Festival! Which means, my 6month haitus from craft shows is over! I took a long break after the holidays because I was exhausted and zapped, but now, I am ready for the summer round!

The Pitchfork Fest isn't until July 13, 14 & 15th, but I woke up to an acceptance email in my inbox and I was SUPER DUPER excited! :D  ...you know, applying for craft shows and waiting to hear back from them... to see if you made the cut is pretty excruciating... and I was nervous... trying to build a mental cushion in case I was rejected... but as fate would have it, mama is going to be there afterall! :D

Best yet, my best-friend Mayra will be my booth roadie and is taking that weekend off of her job to vend with me! I can't be more excited about having a companion at the fest, she thinks of all the details I don't like packing a cooler with water, ice, capri-suns (my fav) and food goodies... See, I'm usually so swamped creating and lugging displays that I forget about those very important little details like feeding myself and staying hydrated. :)

Check out the Music Line-up for the
2012
 Pitchfork (3-day) Music Festival!

 See any bands you like?

Three-day passes for the festival have sold out. Individual day tickets are on sale now right here, but hurry up, because they're going fast. Remember: ticket prices have not been raised this year.
Join the Pitchfork Music Festival on Facebook here and Twitter here for updates...
I am pretty excited and already brainstorming the madness I will have to create for that weekend... YEA!

What are your summer plans?

Veggie Skeleton!

I saw this project here while feeding my pinterest addiction and I knew the munchkin would love to make this... we made our own variation though as the original source of this project used only vegtables with some veggie dipping sauce... while we decided to add some fruit to the "design" and use hummus instead...... then the veggie skeleton building began! or another way to phrase is would be: and the "tricking the kid to eat an outrageous amount of fruit & veggies in one sitting began!" muuu-haaahaa! ;p

face: hummus// eyes & mouth: edamame// spine: cucumbers// "shorts": strawberries// arms & legs: carrots//hands: apple slices// feet: orange slices//hair: baby spinach leaves

It was a fun project and done super quick... you can also cater to your taste-buds and customize it to wear your favorite fruit+veggie combo.
And, the veggie skeleton doesn't have to be limited to just kids... cause' this veggie skeleton beats the traditional veggie tray for a gathering or party anyday!! :)

What's your favorite snack?

Confessions of a Targetholic

Happens everytime! I walk into Target for ONE thing.... like to buy laundry soap or something and you know as soon as you walk in BAM! the women's section of clothing is there.... so many pretty colors.... new items... a harmless walk through the aisles will be fine right? Nope! I went in to buy laundry soap and came out with this shirt, a pair of shoes, "antioxidant" popsicles, a handful of clearance items and no shame. :)  Needless to say, my wardrobe purchased at Target is growing exponentially and ironically unintentionally.
shirt & pants: target ~ belt: gifted ~ sunglasses: f21 ~ jewelry: Mano y Metal ~ rubberbands: OfficeMax, ha!

You know what this is? me playing around with the new photobucket features... I have to say there is some really cool stuff that has been added but WHY DID PHOTOBUCKET REMOVE THE EZCOLLAGE FEATURE?! I totally love the new range of fonts offered, the new photo effects are cool.... but whoa... why are there so many steps to collage? Now I have to do my editing there then if I get the collage craving, I have to save the pics then re-upload them on another program to collage... which just makes more work for me by adding steps to the creative photo-editing process and more work makes me cranky.

How do you feel about the new photobucket face? Did the absence of EZcollage leave a void in your life too? (dramatic i know, I can't help it ;p)

Tales of Love

Boy meets Girl...  or in this case Olivia meets Alex and vice versa..
It was a bar-b-q  season and I had the habit of inviting a few girlfriends of mine to these bar-b-q’s to help me eat grilled tacos, cheeseburgers and spiked lemonade :) and on this particular day my friend Olivia arrivedand my brother-in-law Alex walked over to our table to say hello to me and my friends. Right after I introduced him to Olivia he sat down with us and his conversation was something about a dentist appointment he recently had and teeth whitening that left him thinking a tooth of his was a shade gray of which he proceeded to smile at us to show us his teeth and he asked if we saw the difference in shades of enamel of his teeth. ...
I remember staring at Alex wondering what the hell possessed him to talk about a gray tooth of his (especially since he doesn’t have a gray tooth! He just didn’t know what else to talk about that day?!) and then I looked over at Olivia who stared at him in silence and I saw that he was just drumming up any type of conversation to stay seated at our table longer…  and although I am SURE she thought he was weird… (I mean what kind of conversation starter is that?) I also saw she thought he was cute and funny… hence, it was no wonder that a friendship bloomed between them as they shared a love of pizza, late-night TV and lord, how Olivia had tolerance of Alex’s stories of gray teeth and such and soon after they started dating… And so all these years later (because it seems like decades ago how fast time flies) here we are celebrating the wedding day of Alex and Olivia! Who knew that summer day at a bar-b-q would lead them to this? Tales of Love are always interesting ones as I find that the beauty of life is, one never knows the surprises it has in store for us.

So, we were pretty excited about Olivia's wedding and I couldn't help myself in taking pics of the behind the scenes of her big day! :) Our friend Mayra did our make-up, starting with the bride as we drank mimosas and got ready for her celebration! :) Here is a picture diary of the day!
The groom and baby in tuxedo bowtie arrive!

The mister and I were so happy to be there and the bride and I dusted off our dancing skills and danced to some salsa! :)

The bride and groom show off their salsa dancing skills! :)
Me and my lovely friend Mayra who did all of our make-up! <3
Doesn't the bride look stunning! :)
Oh, and remember how I blogged here about not knowing how to do my hair for her wedding? Well, after pinning away and searching on pinterest, here's what I went with!
I also feel like I can't get away from the color red when it comes to hair... I say that i will dye it another color or go back to brown but red just doesn't let go of me. <3

Thank you for stopping by today & letting me share this special day in the family with you all!
friday is almost here!! whoop!whoop!
